It can’t be said that “Dishonored” is not a franchise that puts a lot of emphasis on violence, with the first game featuring rats that could reduce a body to bones in mere seconds. In the latest gameplay trailer for the second installment, however, the developers took things to another level by actually allowing players to dismember enemies while using “Empress Emily.” During Gamescom, one of the levels showed off also involved certain witches that fans of one of the first game’s DLC will be familiar with.
As Gamespot notes, a huge part of the “Dishonored” series is player choice. They could achieve their goals without killing anyone or they could go on a rampage and massacre entire neighborhoods. In the case of the newest trailer, the developers are showcasing what it would look like if players decided to take the more “chaotic” approach.
In the first scene, the grown-up empress uses her Void power to turn into a shadowy creature that promptly dismembers the guards that were standing in her way. The result was body parts strewn about and one less obstacle to overcome.
In the second scene, Emily faces off against one of the robotic enemies in the game where she performs some of the acrobatic feats that will be available to players in the game. The fight also showcases what challenges gamers will have to face where an enemy can still fight even with its head ripped off.
Finally, attendees at Gamescom were treated to a new level in the game called the “Royal Conservatory” where “Witches” from the DLC “The Brigmore Witches” make an appearance, Gamespresso reports. During the first game, the protagonist “Corvo” had no direct interaction with the characters, but the DLC revealed that they had a much bigger part to play in the game than the main campaign suggested.
