To say that one of the top wishes of hardcore Star Trek fans is to sit on the bridge of the USS Enterprise would be an understatement. The virtual reality simulation by Ubisoft “Star Trek: Bridge Crew” was supposed to make this dream come true in some fashion, but it didn’t exactly deliver upon launch. With the upcoming DLC that brings the USS Enterprise to the game, though, major nerds can finally command the same ship as Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
When the simulation launched, players only had access to the USS Aegis and the 60s version of the USS Enterprise that was modeled after the original series. Despite the name, it just wasn’t the same as the Enterprise from Next Generation, which dulled the experience quite a bit for a lot of fans. Fortunately, it seems the developers realized their mistake and are now set to launch the DLC on May 22nd, according to the PlayStation Blog.
On top of the Enterprise, the DLC will also come with a variety of new contents that include Romulans, androids that are reminiscent of Lt. Commander Data, and an honest to goodness Borg cube. Suffice it to say, players are going to have a lot of opportunities to live the Stark Trek fantasies that have always had.
As Ubisoft told CNET, this expansion will also be coming to the PC version of the VR application, which includes support for the HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. This helps in spreading the love around and gives a lot more fans the opportunity to have the immersive role-playing experience that they have always wanted.
Of course, it always helps to have the controls be more intuitive and less of a hassle than it has to be, which can always break immersion. That’s been added through the DLC, as well.
