While the Tesla Cybertruck is well-suited for many uses, it appears it was not intended for autocross events. If the brand was mentioned, most people would picture a Tesla Model 3 Performance competing in an autocross event. The Cyberbeast may not look like much, but according to a Cybertruck Owners Club member, it does remarkably well on an autocross track.
Tesla Cybertruck’s Exceptional Handling Shines at PCA Autocross, Secures Fifth-Best Time Among Sports Cars
Cybertruck Owners Club member TeslaKen mentioned attending a PCA autocross event with his Cyberbeast in a post on the site. The club members were taken aback when he drove his massive steel pickup truck through the autocross twice, despite his reputation as a starting instructor. The Cyberbeast's revolutionary four-wheel steering and steer-by-wire capabilities offer the vehicle exceptional handling, as it turns out, as per Teslarati.
Due to Cybertruck's exceptional handling, the member of the Cybertruck Owners Club managed to secure the fifth-best time of the day in the Cyberbeast. Considering the other cars in the contest were sports cars like the Porsche Taycan, Porsche Boxster, Porsche Cayman, and Porsche 911—all lighter and more agile than the Cyberbeast—that wasn't too awful.
The crowd was very encouraging, as seen in the videos of the Cyberbeast's autocross run, where several people cheered as the Cybertruck passed the finish line. "Ken" from Tesla also mentioned that the PCA autocross head steward, who rode shotgun in the Cyberbeast, "kind of freaked out" at the vehicle's steer-by-wire system, possibly because he was unprepared for "how responsive the beast would be with drive by wire and rear wheel steering."
Tesla Cybertruck Owner Shares Surprising Success and Challenges at Autocross Event
At the event, the owner of the Cybertruck spoke about his experience: "It was probably fine with the majority of the Porsche drivers. Some of them even saw me teaching, so they know I'm involved with the club or that they could have seen my GT4 at races before. He made a note of the numerous inquiries regarding the battery life and charging time and the inevitable remarks about its resemblance to a refrigerator.
According to the owner of the Tesla Cybertruck, it was a pleasant surprise how well his Cyberbeast did at the autocross event. After all, the Cyberbeast is head and shoulders above the competition when it comes to controlling its weight. The Cybertruck's impressive handling during the event would have been impossible for any truck of a similar size or weight to achieve.
