OMAHA, Neb., April 5, 2016 -- Two new management programs in Omaha will educate students on how to become business leaders in healthcare.
Nebraska Methodist College has announced a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare. Classes for both will begin this August.
The Bachelor's degree is a hybrid on-campus/online program designed to bestow first-time and transfer undergraduate students with a degree that will prepare them to be successful in administrative roles in clinics, hospitals, private practices and long-term care facilities. The online MBA in Healthcare will take that education a step further, providing advanced managerial insights so that graduates may fill critical leadership, executive and cabinet positions within hospital systems.
Each degree will offer multiple majors, allowing the student to specialize in the business area within healthcare that they're most interested.
Dr. Stephanie LaPuma, PhD, MBA, MA, dean of Health Professions at Nebraska Methodist College, commented on the value these new programs will bring to the community and each student individually.
"I can't wait to welcome this first class of students to our college," said Dr. LaPuma. "In evaluating the challenges facing modern hospital systems, our leadership team quickly realized that we needed a set of programs that would equip students with all the tools they'll need to bring healthcare systems fully into today's medical and financial landscape."
"What distinguishes our programs is the compassionate approach we're taking to the business side of healthcare. Administrators and executives may not always interact with patients, but if we can emphasize the positive impact that policies and management techniques can have on the patient experience, we feel that our graduates will be far more capable of succeeding in whichever healthcare environment they choose for their careers."
Students interested in learning more about the BS in Healthcare Management or the MBA in Healthcare may visit methodistcollege.edu/healthcare-management or methodistcollege.edu/mba. Applications are now being accepted for the fall semester, with subsequent start dates to follow every January and August.
