Recent leaks suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 might feature a second cooler on its dock and a 60W charger, possibly introducing faster charging and enhanced system speed.
Dock to Feature Second Cooler
On today's Famiboards forum, people supposedly published information from leaked shipment manifests, which led to the emergence of another Nintendo Switch 2 rumor online.
This data suggests that the next Nintendo system will include a second cooler, which will most likely be on the dock. If that is so, Nintendo Switch enthusiasts are already speculating that the dock will provide an even more substantial speed improvement than the original.
60W Charger Discovered
Also, a 60W charger has been discovered, which could mean that the Nintendo Switch 2 has a rapid charging option.
The earlier and more reliable speculation put the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in the second half of 2024. The most current information, however, suggests a release window of March 2025.
This would put the release date of the second Switch somewhere about eight years after the first. Still, we may expect to see the console shown sometime in the fall.
Nintendo Switch 2 to Use NVIDIA Ampere GPU Architecture
According to previous rumors, the console, which is a hybrid of a home system and a handheld device, would be powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 239 system on a chip. This chip will combine the Ampere GPU architecture with 1280 CUDA Cores, 8 Cortex A78 Arm CPU Cores, and 12 GB of RAM. A Samsung 5th generation V-NAND with a Read Speed of up to 1.4 GB/s should be used by the gaming cards.
WCCFTECH shares that while the Nintendo Switch 2's GPU design will allow it to enable hardware ray tracing, it is not expected to support DLSS Frame Generation. However, it is expected to support NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction.
Nintendo Switch 2 Not Expected to Outperform Xbox Series S
Despite these advancements, it still won't be powerful enough to compete with the Xbox Series S, the weakest console of its generation. You could even find that Valve's Steam Deck is better. Unlike Valve's portable PC, though, Nintendo Switch 2 titles will be tailored to the console's specifications.
It may take years, but Square Enix's Naoki Yoshida recently hinted that Final Fantasy XIV would be ported to the PlayStation. This brings us to our topic of lineups.
The Xbox port is a prime example of this; it took years to develop and was finally released just a few months ago.
