While the Nintendo Switch is still in high demand and its library of video games is growing, many fans are still clamoring for third-party developers to start porting their game onto the hybrid console. Sadly, it would seem that the Switch’s limited capabilities prevented this from happening. Based on new reports about the portable unit running Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, however, fans might have something to look forward to now.
Many developers and publishers are game for porting or even creating video games for the Switch. Ubisoft has been particularly enthusiastic about the idea. Thanks to a new app called Rainway, more creators might finally warm up to the idea of bringing their own IPs to the console as well since it can run some high-end AAA games, Comicbook reports.
Now, there is no denying the fact that the Switch does come with a lot of limitations. Its graphics card is considerably less powerful than the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One, and its display can only reach 1080p. Even so, the creators of Rainway were still able to run the final installments in the Arkham series and Witcher franchise in a limited capacity.

Sharing footage of their work, Rainway boss Andrew Sampson provided several clips that featured the aforementioned titles and one for the recent hit, Nier Automata. Based on the videos and Sampson’s own admission, there are definitely a lot of bugs that still need to be worked out. This is not at all surprising since he is a third-party entity and is only showcasing the games via an app.

As to how Rainway even works, it basically allows users to stream games from their PC to the Switch, Game Zone reports. What’s more, it seems that the lag that the footage show is not due to hardware limitations. There are just a few kinks in the system that need sorting out.
