It looks like Nissan is ready to challenge the Renault Captur and the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. According to Indian automotive site Team-Bhp, the company is planning to unveil the Nissan Kicks 2018 during a media event on Oct. 18, in Mumbai.
The compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) is already being sold in the international market, but the India-spec Nissan Kicks 2018 is going to be a little different from the one sold abroad.
Reports indicate that the Nissan Kicks 2018 will use the same B0 platform as the Terrano, the Duster, and the Captur instead of the V platform of the global model. The local version is also going to slightly bigger than the one abroad, which means it should have more front and rear legroom.
As for its engine, the Nissan Kicks 2018 will come with the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.5-litre petrol motor used in the Captur. The diesel engine will deliver 108.5 Bhp of power and 240 Nm of torque, while the petrol engine produces 104.5 Bhp of power and 142 Nm of torque.
According to Autocar India, the petrol model will reportedly come with a five-speed manual or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) gearbox. The diesel model should come with a 6-speed manual transmission. Other than that, India’s Nissan Kicks will look almost similar to the one sold internationally.
“It features a V-shaped grille up front and sweptback headlamps as well as a dual-tone front bumper with a silver scuff plate and rectangular fog lamps. The car has flared wheel arches and raked rear windshield. The rear also gets wraparound tail lights,” Tushar Kelshikar said in his report for Team-Bhp.
“Inside, the Kicks could get dual-tone interiors with an infotainment screen in the centre and a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel. It is likely to be offered with a 360-degree camera among other features,” he added.
The Nissan Kicks 2018 will likely to be priced at between Rs. 9 to 15 lakhs. Nissan is expected to launch the compact SUV in January 2019.
