“Now You See Me 3” is very late. In fact, the movie was confirmed in 2015 and three years after, it is still not out in theaters.
Lionsgate first announced that “Now You See Me 3” has been approved as a follow-up to the successful second installment of the “Now You See Me” franchise. However, it has been three years since anything was heard about the new movie. The lack of news made fans think that it may not be coming out after all, but it seems that this is not the case.
As Variety reported in May 2015, Lionsgate already started developing “Now You See Me 3.” News of the development came a year before the second sequel was released, in June 2016.
Cast and Production Team
It was Jon Feltheimer, Lionsgate CEO, who made the announcement through a conference call with official analysts who analyzed the film’s earnings. “We’ve already begun early planning for ‘Now You See Me 3,'” Feltheimer said.
He added that he was expecting Mark Ruffalo (Dylan Rhodes), Woody Harrelson (Merritt McKinney), Jesse Eisenberg (J. Daniel Atlas), Dave Franco (Jack Wilder), Morgan Freeman (Thaddeus Bradley) and Michael Caine (Arthur Tressler) to reprise their roles in “Now You See Me 3.”
As for Isla Fisher, who plays Henley Reeves, she will not be coming back for the movie and was replaced by Lizzy Caplan. As expected, Jon M. Chu will be the director and producers will be Bobby Cohen and Alex Kurtzman.
Ed Solomon and Pete Chiarelli will remain as scriptwriters for “Now You See Me 3.” They are expected to work with two new writers, Gavin James and Neil Widener.
Release Date
As of now, sources shared that “Now You See Me 3” is expected to be released in 2019. Still, fans should watch out for the official announcement.
Now, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Lionsgate is launching the “Now You See Me Live” magic show tour. The show is based on the film series.
The tour will showcase state-of-the-art magic and promises never-before-seen illusions done by the greatest magicians in the world, including “Britain’s Got Talent's” James More, French magic champion Florian Sainvet, “Holland’s Got Talent's” Sabine van Diemen, and Enzo Weyne from “France’s Got Talent.” The show will go on a global tour that will begin in China this November.
“Now You See Me” was a surprising blockbuster movie that was first released in 2013. It presented a story about using magic to steal and help others. It garnered great reviews and some critics said that they had never seen a modern story like it before, so suspenseful and full of twists up to the end.
