It has been reported for some time now that Jon M. Chu would come back to direct "Now You See Me 3." This is one of the very few details known about the production movie. But Chu's other reported projects might give fans a hint on when the magic heist thriller would be released.
'Now You See Me 3' production
All the pieces of information reported or confirmed about "Now You See Me 3" came out around four to five years ago. That includes Chu's anticipated return to helm the third movie about magic and illusions, which was reported back in 2016.
While newer updates on the "Now You See Me 3" production are few to none, reports on Chu's other movie projects are a different story. Deadline revealed this week that Chu is eyed to produce another novel-to-movie adaptation of the young adult title "Permanent Record," written by Mary H.K. Choi.
It has not been confirmed yet, but the same report also mentioned the possibility of Chu directing the movie. Given Chu's massive success with "Crazy Rich Asians," it is easy to understand why he is also being considered for the role.
What does this say about "Now You See Me 3"? Nothing official, but if fans would guess, this seems to suggest that the production of the movie might not be an urgent project for Chu and anyone else attached to it.
It appears that "Permanent Record's" adaptation is still in the early stages of production. But that is also the same case per the latest update on "Now You See Me 3" after it was reported that Lionsgate chose Neil Widener and Gavin James to pen the script.
'Now You See Me 3' cast, plot
Just like its production and development, nothing much is known about the "Now You See Me 3" plot. However, it is safe to bet on the main cast members reprising their roles. The Four Horsemen were played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Lizzy Caplan, along with Mark Ruffalo, who plays as their leader.
The story of "Now You See Me 3" could feature more involvement of the Eye after the Four Horsemen were welcomed to the elite group in the second movie. Meanwhile, a favorite fan theory suggests that Dylan's (Ruffalo) father, Lionel Shrike, might be alive and could become part of the third movie.
