After years of waiting for updates on the production of “Now You See Me 3,” development has been reported recently, suggesting that the movie is still in the pipeline. The next heist thriller is rumored to feature two new main characters while the latest report could be an indication that a premiere would be set sometime soon.
‘Now You See Me 3’ cast rumors: Next movie adds 2 new characters
The first two films greatly revolved around the Four Horsemen with members portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Lizzy Caplan in the sequel along with Mark Ruffalo, who plays the group's leader Dylan Shrike. Despite the very little information revealed about "Now You See Me 3," the movie franchise's solid followers believe that said actors would most likely reprise their roles.
Now, sources told We Got This Covered that “Now You See Me 3” is slated to introduce two new characters to be played by a “young Hispanic female in her early 20s” and a 30-year-old male actor. The new male role supposedly planned to be acted by a “Chris Pratt-type” actor, if Pratt himself is not going to join the movie.
The same sources claimed that the return of Eisenberg, Harrelson, Ruffalo, and Caplan is already being planned for “Now You See Me 3.” Lionsgate, the producer of the franchise, is also reportedly making arrangements to sign Morgan Freeman and Michael Cane’s for the third movie. Freeman and Caine both played main character roles in the first two films, while the same report indicated that the insiders did not mention anything about Franco.
‘Now You See Me 3’ possible release date: Movie premiere next year possible?
Lionsgate confirmed in 2015 that early plans for “Now You See Me 3” were already being made at the time. It was then reported in late 2016 that the work on the movie’s script has already started. However, that was where the chatter about the third movie stopped until the report above surfaced online.
If the latest report means that the filming of “Now You See Me 3” is also planned sometime this year, there is a small chance that the next movie could premiere by 2021. But since Lionsgate has yet to announce the production of the movie formally, fans are still advised to take these reports with a pinch of salt.
