The number of golfers per golf course in Busan, Ulsan, and North Gyeongsang Province is expected to decline by 22.1 percent by 2026 according to a white paper published by the Korea Leisure Industry Institute.
These regions' golf courses, expected to increase from 63 courses in late 2021 to 78.5 in 2026, can profitability operate throughout the year due to an abundant population of golfers.
However, South Korea’s ratio of golfers per golf course is expected to drop to 65,200 in 2026, down 10.7 percent from 2021.
By 2026, there will be a relatively small drop in the number of players per course in metropolitan areas, falling by just 3.8 percent, suggesting that the challenge of reserving golf courses will probably not change.
