‘Once Upon A Time’ season 7 is set to feature the return of Lana Parrilla. The actress, who plays back-to-back roles as Regina and the Evil Queen on the series, talked about the changes in the upcoming season as well as returning with new identities.
During an interview with Gold Derby, Parilla opened up about the changes for in store for her character as well as other characters for the upcoming season. The 39-year old actress portrays Regina Mills as well as the Evil Queen on the show. Regina first debuted in season 1’s episode 1 and is the Storybrooke counterpart of the Evil Queen.
She said, “[Regina] is by far the most complicated character I’ve ever had to portray. I love that I never know what she’s going to do next. I love that she’s constantly searching to be a better human being, for herself and others.”
Parrilla continued, “She’s constantly evolving and I can’t wait to see her get her happy ending… I’m looking forward to that, and I’m hoping in Season 7 we’re gonna get a taste of Regina’s happiness and hopefully sustain it for some time.”
The actress will be returning to reprise her role on season 7 alongside co-stars Robert Carlyle as Rumple and Colin O’Donoghue as Hook (Colin O’Donoghue). According to TV Line, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey hinted that the characters returning may assume “new identities in a new city” plagued by a new threat. When pressed for details, Parrilla admitted, “I do know that we’re playing sort of different characters… It’s all unknown.”
Main cast members such as Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan), Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming), Jared Gilmore (Henry Mills), Emilie de Ravin (Belle) and Rebecca Mader (Zelena) will not be returning for the seventh season run.
Parrilla commented on her co-stars’ departure saying that she would miss working with them as she considered them her family after many years of developing strong relationships with each another.
‘Once Upon A Time’ season 7 was renewed on ABC last May 2017. No official release date has been announced as of the present.
