“One Piece” Episode 857 is where the battle between Luffy and Katakuri finally take a turn in favor of the Straw Hat captain. All this time, the user of the Gum Gum fruit has been eating knuckle sandwiches left and right. It was clear that Luffy was outmatched from the start. However, after interrupting his meal and causing his face to be revealed, Katakuri loses his cool and goes on a rampage. This gives Luffy a window of opportunity to strike back.
As OtakuKart notes, when Luffy accidentally made it possible for those around Katakuri to see his true face in “One Piece” Episode 857, the Sweets Commander went on a rampage. He went after the chefs that brought him his sweets for his “merienda” before coming after Luffy with a really dangerous looking spear. However, even in the midst of getting pummeled, the stretchy protagonist finally managed to land a hit.
“One Piece” Episode 857 would see the first time that such an event has happened in this mostly one-sided fight. It’s clear that Katakuri became unbalanced, which caused him to lose control of his abilities to see into the future. Unfortunately for Luffy, the Sweets Commander eventually regains his composure. However, it wasn’t before the Straw Hats captain could do some damage with 4th Gear, Geek Snipper notes.
With the discovery of Katakuri’s vulnerability in “One Piece” Episode 857, it’s clear that the fight is almost at its conclusion. If so, Luffy might just finally be able to gain the upper hand after being on the defensive for so long. There might be one or two more of these episodes to go before the Big Mama arc is finally at its end.
“One Piece” Episode 857 is scheduled to air on Oct. 14. Fans are encouraged to watch the show via official portals.
