Looks like consumers will get the chance to take a closer look at the OnePlus 6T before its unveiling on Oct. 29. It seems German online retailer Otto has accidentally published a listing of the upcoming flagship smartphone recently. The page has already been taken down, but the damage has already been done.
According to GSMArena, the listing is for the 8GB RAM/128 GB storage model of the smartphone and it is priced at €580, which is around $660 at the current exchange rate. It is a little pricier than the older model, but not much. The OnePlus 6 model with the same RAM/storage option is currently priced at €570.
The listed specs for the OnePlus 6T includes a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, an expandable microSD storage, a 3,700mAh battery, a USB-C version 3.1 port, and it is Dual SIM compatible. The phone also has a 16MP + 20MP dual-lens rear camera setup to go with a 16MP selfie camera.
Apparently, the OnePlus 6T will come out of the box with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed, not Android 9 Pie as many have predicted. In fact, reports say OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed the phone will have Android 9 Pie pre-installed at launch. But as noted by GSMArena, this may be a mistake in the listing. In any case, an update should be available soon if it comes out with Android 8.1 Oreo.
Aside from that, tech enthusiasts probably already know that the OnePlus 6T will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor called Screen Unlock that allows users to unlock their smartphone by tapping on the screen.
Lau seems quite happy with this new feature since they have been working on it for months. “We spent months shaving milliseconds off the unlock time and carefully refining the unlock animation to ensure a satisfying experience. Through the use of several software algorithms, Screen Unlock will learn to recognize your fingerprint with higher accuracy through extended use,” Lau said in a blog post earlier this month.
