Now that May has given us the OnePlus 6, it's time to look forward to the OnePlus 6T and what OnePlus may have planned for its flagship model.
For speculations on release dates, no need to look any further than the OnePlus 5 and 5T's release schedule last year. The OnePlus 5 released in June 2017, which was followed by the 5T five months later, when that model released in November. A summer release for the base version of the upcoming device could happen, followed by the T model in Q4 of 2018.
With just five months being the most likely difference between the 6's and 6T's releases, is there even any reason to jump ship from the OnePlus 6 to the OnePlus 6T?
A first-look teaser for the OnePlus 6T has been released by the Science and Knowledge channel, which showcases some rumored OnePlus 6T features and specifications.
While not officially confirmed, the following showcased and rumored features may be enough for any current OnePlus 6 user to think about switching to a OnePlus 6T when fall 2018 comes around.
As OnePlus's flagship product upon its release, the OnePlus 6T will most probably have a wireless charging feature. The current OnePlus 6 model does not have this specific feature even though it already has a glass back.
As the video also shows, the OnePlus 6T will remove the notch on the front screen that caused fan uproar. It replaces it with a pop-up 16MP dual camera on the front, giving all of the phone's 6.4-inch front real estate to the Infinite Display.
Waterproofing for the OnePlus 6T may also be a possibility as most competitors in the 6T's price range are already waterproof.
Even more exciting features for the OnePlus 6T, although not fully confirmed, would be the three-camera rear arrangement featuring 16MP, 20MP, and 8MP cameras, and a potentially more powerful processor due to its end-of-the-year release.
With the differences between the 6 and 6T being more quality-of-life upgrades, don't expect the OnePlus 6Ts price to be drastically different from the current OnePlus 6.
If the quality-of-life upgrades being speculated on are making any current OnePlus 6 users regret their current hardware, they can take some advice from OnePlus's current motto -- Never Settle. Maybe a OnePlus 6T for the Q4 holidays will help them feel better.
