The OnePlus 7 is one of the most anticipated phones coming out this year as its predecessors have been hailed as flagship killers. This isn’t surprising given that the performance of this series closely rivals that of Apple and Samsung devices at half the price.
So what can users expect from the OnePlus 7? Perhaps one of the main selling points of this upcoming device is its 5G capabilities. Company co-founder Pete Lau has already confirmed this feature, although it’s speculated that it will not be included in its base model, Trusted Reviews reported.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 7 will be outfitted with the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor, one of the first smartphones to enjoy such an upgrade. The base model will likely have an 8GB worth of RAM, with a possibility of bumping that specs higher.
The company slotted the OnePlus 6T MacLaren Edition with 10GB worth of RAM and the OnePlus 7 could be treated the same way. However, some have called this feature as overkill since most users aren’t necessarily using their device to its maximum capacity, Dignited reported. This is especially true since a 10GB worth of RAM isn’t even seen in the features of some laptops and PC builds.
As for the rumors surrounding the OnePlus 7, there are claims out there saying that the upcoming smartphone will be getting rid of the notch. A design leak made its round on the web last month and appears to confirm this claim. While this isn’t confirmed just yet, the company could opt out to remove the notch as it has been unpopular among users.
If they do decide to tread this path, the Shenzhen-based manufacturer can take inspiration from Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 3’s sliding plate or from the pop-up camera of the Vivo Nex S. With regards to the release date of the OnePlus 7, it’s expected to drop sometime between April and July. The speculation is based on the previous release of the OnePlus 7’s predecessor, which hit the shelves on the second quarter of their respective years.
