Aside from the release date, order information, and price, the “OnePlus Three” was a mystery to anyone other than the company. Now that its specifications have been released, the so-called “flagship killer” finally has details to back up its claim. Based on its offerings, it seems the newest unit by “OnePlus” stands a decent chance at actually coming through with its promises.
As the moniker “flagship killer” suggests, the “OnePlus Three” is meant to take on the main smartphones of the biggest makers in the industry such the “Apple iPhone” and the “Samsung S” series. Folks at the BGR asked if the $399 unit can actually deliver on such expectations, and looking at the specifications they listed, this might just be the case.
In terms of screen size, the “OnePlus Three” is comparable to the “Samsung S7 Edge.” Both have 5.5-inch displays and both have AMOLED screens. The cheaper smartphone only offers 1080p resolution and pixel density is at 441 PPI. However, it offers 6GB RAM option and 16MP rear camera.
Ars Technica noted the lower battery capacity and lack of removable storage for the “OnePlus Three” though, so that is something that customers will need to think about. Like current generation smartphones, the “flagship killer” features a fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button.
In terms of the exterior, the smartphone from the China-based company is made of aluminum and comes in the options “Graphite” and “Soft Gold.” ‘OnePlus” is also quite proud of the phone’s feature called “Dash Charge” as well, which allows for a near-full charge in a matter of 30 minutes. During this charging phase, the power saving option of the phone turns off and the internal command takes over. This will supposedly make the temperature of the battery go lower, thus helping it charge faster.
Right now, the phone is only available through the official website where customers can place an order and the unit will be shipped afterwards.
