There are fewer secrets left about the OnePlus Watch as the company’s major product launch event approaches. The upcoming wearable’s design already appeared online, and some fans are quick to point out its similarities with Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch Active.
OnePlus Watch design
OnePlus fans now have a much clearer look at the OnePlus Watch after Unbox Therapy revealed its design. As earlier official teasers hinted, the OnePlus Watch has a round watch face, but some of its details remind fans of Samsung’s product. One fan even called it a “clone,” while others replied by sharing photos of their Galaxy Watch Active.
However, some fans are holding out hope that the company will approach the OnePlus Watch launch differently than other OEMs that had smartwatches before. Smartphone makers that venture into the smartwatch business, like Apple and Samsung, usually release a wearable device in one standard form factor.

Earlier this month, OnePlus UK asked its Twitter followers, “Watch Do You See?” The post is accompanied by two shapes, round and square, which are the usual watch face forms. People following the OnePlus updates online have since been wondering if that meant the OnePlus Watch would be launched in two different designs.
OnePlus Watch specs, features
One of the latest OnePlus Watch teasers came from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, confirming that fitness features are one of the device’s selling points as it is going to support “more than 110 workout modes.” Lau also shared a series of images to show the materials used for the watch’s finishing.
Lau said the company has chosen to “use a premium material never before seen in a smartwatch” in a post that includes a photo of a type of steel. Some fans replying to Lau’s teasers are guessing the OnePlus Watch would feature a certain grade of stainless steel, but the specific material might not be confirmed until the official announcement.
From our start we’ve cared about the feel of our devices. So when it came to our first #OnePlusWatch, we chose to go beyond the ordinary and use a premium material never before seen in a smartwatch. Tune in on March 23 for more. pic.twitter.com/lXE2hXub9T

Last week, it was leaked that the OnePlus Watch is IP68 certified and will support the company’s Warp Charge fast charging technology. Aside from the workout modes, the device is also expected to have monitors for sleeping, stress, blood saturation level, and heart rate. But what caught many by surprise was the confirmation that it will not run on Google’s Wear OS and OnePlus will instead use a real-time operating system that it developed in-house.
OnePlus Watch release date
There is no mistaking now that the OnePlus Watch will be announced on March 23, and the company should give the specifics about its availability during the event. Tech fans can watch the launch through an online stream on YouTube on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. ET.
