OpenAI has launched its ChatGPT Search product to all users, intensifying its battle with Google in the AI-powered search market. The feature, now available across mobile apps and the web, aims to revolutionize how users interact with search engines.
OpenAI Expands ChatGPT Search to All Users, Challenging Google
On Monday, OpenAI will intensify its competition with Alphabet Inc.'s Google by making its search tool available to all users of its chatbot ChatGPT, Bloomberg reports.
At an event on Monday, the artificial intelligence startup announced that their new product, ChatGPT Search, will be accessible to all users linked in with the chatbot account across all of their mobile apps and website. OpenAI used to only let paying subscribers use the search feature.
In late 2022, when ChatGPT went viral, internet companies rushed to integrate generative AI into numerous applications, one of which being online search.
Google and Microsoft Race to Enhance AI Search Tools
With the help of OpenAI, Google and Microsoft have updated their search offerings to incorporate more conversational AI capabilities.
OpenAI customers will be able to designate the feature their default search engine through their web browser, according to the business, as part of the extended rollout that is being implemented.
ChatGPT Search Introduces Verbal AI Responses for Users
OpenAI also introduced a new option that will enable users to pose questions to the chatbot, such as, "What are some activities that you can do in Zurich before Christmas?" and the chatbot will respond verbally.
On the eighth day of what the firm has claimed will be twelve days of livestreamed product events, the expanded search product was introduced.
OpenAI Debuts ChatGPT Pro and AI Video Tool Sora
As part of the launch series, OpenAI debuted their new, more expensive ChatGPT Pro membership and started rolling out Sora, an AI video production tool.
