NEWPORT NEWS, Va., March 02, 2016 -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that its SN3 subsidiary has named Brian Mathis vice president of northwest operations. In this capacity, he will have overall responsibility for SN3’s northwest region, including the DOE Hanford Reservation and Idaho National Lab.
“Brian brings a wealth of knowledge, talents and management skills to the job,” said SN3 President Nick Lombardo. “He has a stellar reputation and a strong operations and business background that makes him an excellent fit for this position.”
Mathis served as assistant vice president of Hanford operations for SN3 from December 2014 until January 2016. He has more than 30 years of management experience in all facets of DOE nuclear facility decommissioning and remediation for complex projects involving hazardous, toxic and radioactive materials and waste. Mathis has managed the decommissioning of more than 70 facilities—over 1 million square feet—and remediation of more than 100 contaminated sites within the DOE complex.
From the operation of nuclear production facilities at Savannah River to site remediation and waste management at Hanford, SN3 manages complex projects that are crucial to national security, advancing science and technology and protecting the environment. With a half-century legacy of safe performance, SN3 earned the first nationwide, multi-site Department of Energy Voluntary Protection Program STAR award.
