After a phenomenal run on the PC, the hot online Battle Royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds finally has a release date for the Xbox One. The celebrated title will be available on the console on December 12th, which should provide even more gamers the joy of getting blown to pieces by 99 other players. It’s chicken dinner time.
The developers of PUBG have always said that the game would be coming to the console in 2017, but it wasn’t until today that the exact date was announced, The Verge notes. It’s cutting it close as well since there are only a few weeks to go before the year ends.
Releasing the game on Xbox One as scheduled is also a bit unconventional, especially as console games go since the title isn’t even technically finished yet. It’s still in Early Access on Steam and there’s no indication that the console version will be any different.
Much of the game is still going to be the same as that on the PC. 100 players will be dropped onto an island where they will parachute to the sectors that they wanted. From there, the players will scavenge for supplies and weapons in order to kill everyone else until only one remains.
This will also make the game a console exclusive since it will only be released for the Xbox One and not on the PlayStation 4, Polygon reports. The creators have expressed interest in launching a version for the Sony console, but there’s no definitive date or even plans to speak of.
Going back to the part about PUBG still being in Early Access, the publisher of the game also notes that the 1.0 version will also be coming in December for the PC version. Apparently, development for both platforms will be different, which makes sense since consoles and PCs hardly ever come with the same conditions.
