PUMA, in its latest collaboration with American artist Colm Dillane, better known as KidSuper, elevates sportswear with a unique blend of modern aesthetics and nostalgic football heritage. The PUMA x KidSuper Sports Club collection, a follow-up to their previous successful releases, draws inspiration from Dillane's lifelong football passion and PUMA's storied past in the sport.
According to a press release, this partnership marries the vibrancy of art with the spirit of athleticism. It presents a range that reinterprets PUMA's archival silhouettes through the lens of football, infusing them with pastel colorways and modernized classics.
Innovation Meets Heritage
The collection breathes new life into sportswear with updated Velophasis and Palermo sneakers versions, alongside several matching sets. Each piece showcases KidSuper's flair for creativity, featuring garment dyeing, graphic jacquard knits, and graphics inspired by the iconic PUMA King.
The cut-and-sewn Track Jacket and Track Pants boast accentuated color blocking and embroidered details, while the Knitted Jersey and Shorts, crafted with a jacquard knit process, display bold graphic elements, including a KidSuper Football Club badge. The Cardigan, Longsleeve, and Skirt also introduce unique textiles and custom artwork, making a distinctive statement within the collection.
A New Chapter in Footwear
The Velophasis Nu and Palermo Nu sneakers have been refined with premium materials, including cashmere suede uppers and mesh underlays punctuated with custom PUMA and KidSuper Studios tags. Notably, the Velophasis Nu sneaker features a distressed look, nodding to a Y2K-inspired aesthetic with a pre-worn charm.
Accessories and Campaign
Complementing the apparel, the collection includes collaborative accessories such as a Bucket Hat, Duffle Bag, and Scarf, rounding out the offerings to ensure enthusiasts can sport the KidSuper aesthetic from head to toe. The launch campaign draws quirky inspiration from classic '90s mobster films, showcasing Dillane amidst a creative cast that embodies the collection's spirit in a series of matching tracksuits.
Launch Details and Future Collaborations
Mark your calendars for April 13, 2024, as the PUMA x KidSuper Sport Club collection goes on sale online at kidsuper.com, in PUMA stores, and at select retailers. Fans of the collaboration can also look forward to a PUMA Basketball collaborative drop in May.
This collection builds on the momentum from a November launch, as per a press release, where PUMA and KidSuper released football apparel and footwear inspired by Dillane's background in the sport and PUMA's rich football legacy, highlighting the KING SUPER FG football boot among other pieces that blur the lines between the dynamism of football and the inventiveness of art.
