Microsoft is about to launch its more powerful version of the Xbox One currently designated Project Scorpio, but there are still some mysteries surrounding it including how much it will costs. Xbox head Phil Spencer decided to talk about that and more in a recent interview. In related news, Xbox Live Creators Program was just announced, which is basically giving the key to indie video game developers to start making titles for the Xbox.
The interview with Spencer occurred on IGN’s podcast called Unlocked, where the publication usually speaks with big names in the video game industry to talk about big developments. The Xbox boss talked about the recently unveiled Xbox Pass, which gives players access to over 100 games via monthly subscription.
He also touched on how much Scorpio is going to cost, though, he didn’t provide specific details. Spencer described the upgraded console as being a premium console that has a premium look. As such, he says that Scorpio is also likely to have a premium price, GameSpot reports.
"I call it a premium console because I want people to be clear that the customer we're building that for is the premium gaming customer," Spencer explained. "The person who buys the majority of the games, the person who's playing the most games, spending the most hours, spending the most dollars. It's like our Elite controller. I call that a premium controller."
As for the Xbox Live Creators Program, it would seem that it’s not exactly an open source offer since it comes with a one-time payment fee, The Verge reports. The costs would reportedly range from $20 to $100, with additional features likely accompanying the more expensive plans. Developers who decide to pay up would then gain access to the Xbox developer kit and submit their games for retail.
