Squirtle gets the spotlight in the upcoming “Pokémon GO” Community Day and, to make it even better, Trainers are likely going to see the character wearing sunglasses.
“Pokémon GO” launches a Community Day every month where developers select one featured Pokémon. And since Squirtle is the star character for the event, Trainers can expect to see more of the Pokémon while the Community Day is live.
Fans of the “Pokémon” franchise might recall that the sunglasses-wearing Squirtle Squad first appeared in the anime series. This notorious group was led by Ash’s Squirtle and was known for toying with other characters.
However, not everyone will have the chance to see Squirtle wearing a pair of sunglasses. Trainers will have to complete all the tasks and objectives in the Community Day Field Research quest to see Squirtle and its cool accessories. Also, Squirtle is wearing sunglasses not just to look good but also because they are “protecting themselves from the summer rays.”
Note, though, that the height of Community Day events only falls within a three-hour window. “During a three-hour window that day, wild Squirtle will appear with much greater frequency than normal. You'll want to catch as many as you can during that time period,” The Pokémon Company said.
Within the same three-hour window, Trainers can witness more bonus events. In this duration, Trainers are encouraged to evolve Squirtle into Wartortle and then to its highest evolved form, the Blastoise. Once this is accomplished, their Blastoise will acquire a Hydro Cannon upgrade, among other interesting bonuses. “Only Blastoise that evolve or are caught during the Community Day festivities will learn this awesome move,” the company added.
Community Day is, indeed, the best time to play “Pokémon GO.” Within the same three-hour period, all Eggs will hatch four times faster than normal while Lure Modules will remain active in these times.
The next “Pokémon GO” Community Day happens on Sunday, July 8 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. EDT.
