Porsche Korea announced on Thursday that their annual sales for this year had surpassed 10,000 vehicles. The German luxury carmaker achieved this feat for the first time since its regional office was established in 2014.
With the figures reaching 10,442 from January to November, Porsche Korea is experiencing remarkable growth in the South Korean market, as per the Korea Times.
Cayenne Leading the Pack
Out of the total sales, the popular Cayenne SUV model claimed the lion's share, with 4,440 units sold. The four-door Panamera, the electric sport Taycan, and the classic internal combustion 911 followed closely behind. Porsche's diverse range of vehicles, including gasoline, hybrid, and electric cars, has contributed to its success in attracting a wider range of consumers.
Porsche's lineup now includes coupe and spacious sedans, providing customers with a variety of options. Notably, the Cayenne is available in 11 different editions powered by gasoline and hybrid engines. This model has become a top choice for buyers in South Korea and ranks fourth highest in sales across all of Porsche's global markets this year.
Expansion Plans
The brand's success in the Korean market has also led to plans for expansion. Next year, Porsche will introduce two additional editions under the Panamera series, further diversifying their offerings to cater to customer preferences.
Porsche has consistently invested in after-purchase services, further enhancing its reputation among customers. Last October, the company opened the Porsche Now Seongsu dealership and a new studio in Songpa District, both in Seoul. The studio offers the world's first 24-hour electric vehicle recharging service. These additions join Porsche's existing 14 dealerships, 14 service centers, five second-hand shops, and four studios across South Korea.
Porsche's Philanthropic Initiatives
Beyond its business success, Porsche has also significantly contributed to the community. Through their "Porsche Do Dream" campaign launched in 2017, the company has donated nearly 5.9 billion won ($4.5 million) over the past six years to various causes. These initiatives include supporting school gym construction, providing scholarships for art and sports talents, improving traffic safety systems, and preserving the country's non-tangible national heritages.
Porsche's philanthropic efforts have not gone unnoticed. Korea Joongang Daily reported that the Seoul Metropolitan Government recently presented Porsche Korea CEO Holger Gerrmann with honorary citizenship. This prestigious recognition is awarded annually to 15 distinguished foreign citizens residing in Seoul.
