“Power” may have ended with only six seasons, but fans still have a lot more to watch as the series has been extended by creating spin-offs. And the best thing is - it is not only one, but 50 Cent and the other show executives prepared four, and each one may have one or two stories each.
The spin-offs will open with the first in the line-up titled “Power Book II: Ghost.” This will pick up just a few days after James “Ghost” St. Patrick was shot by his son Tariq.
It was already shared in the past that the people behind the drama will add new characters, and a few months back, Cliff “Method Man” Smith and Mary J. Blige were confirmed to join the cast. They will be taking the roles as Davis MacLean, a lawyer and Monet, a street smart businesswoman, respectively.
This month, two more actors were added to the cast line-up and mentioning their names already excite the fans. Both had a stint in popular dramas, so they are recognizable in the world of TV.
Sherri Saum
First up is an actress who appeared in “Grey’s Anatomy” and her most recent work is “Locke and Key.” Sherri Saum is one of the latest cast addition to “Power Book II: Ghost.”
As per TV Line, she will play Paula Matarazzo, the right-hand man, the haughty lawyer Davis MacLean. She is also a top investigator, and it was predicted that she will be going after Tasha, Tariq’s mother, who is currently in jail after she took responsibility for Ghost’s death so she can save her son.
It would be interesting to see how their face-off will unfold if it is indeed correct that Matarazzo will be keeping an eye on Tasha in “Power Book II: Ghost.”
Shalim Ortiz
Another confirmed new cast member is Shalim Ortiz, who is known for his appearance in the “Grand Hotel. Deadline reported that he will be in the first “Power” spin-off, but his role will only be a recurring one.
He will be an NYPD officer named Danilo Ramirez in “Power Book II: Ghost.” His character is complicated as he will be torn between protecting his loved ones and doing his job as an officer.
Meanwhile, “Power Book II: Ghost” is set to premiere on Starz this September.
