Not long after the fifth season of “Power” concluded, showrunner Courtney Kemp immediately assured fans that Angela (Lela Loren) will return in “Power” season 6. Meanwhile, is this the penultimate installment of Starz’s crime drama series?

“Power” season 6 will pick up from another jaw-dropping finale. The fifth season ended with a tensed confrontation between Angela and James (Omari Hardwick) that led to the former breaking up their illicit affair. But things went further south when Tommy (Joseph Sikora) appears out of nowhere, shoots James, but Angela saved his lover and sustained a potentially fatal gunshot wound.

The season 5 finale ended with a black screen and James’ voice in the background screaming Angela’s name. This led to fans thinking that the federal prosecutor has died. Luckily, Kemp addressed the confusion just a few days since the season 5 finale. The series creator clearly confirmed that Angela is not dead, which means the viewers will see her again in “Power” season 6.

Kemp reiterated that Angela will return in “Power” season 6 on various interviews. But what the showrunner will reveal is what Angela will be doing after getting shot to save Ghost. “Angela’s not dead. She’s just shot. And so, yeah, we knew some big stuff was going to happen, for sure,” Kemp told Entertainment Weekly.

Even though Angela will survive Tommy’s sneak attack, fans must remember that more deaths could be brewing for “Power” season 6. After the episode where Kanan (50 Cent) died was released, Kemp addressed fans with the message “No one is safe.” She is most likely implying that no character is big or small when it comes to the question of who could die next in “Power.”

Meanwhile, executive producer 50 Cent previously reiterated that they are not planning to prolong the show. “We slated the show to go seven seasons initially because we created it with the success of The Sopranos in mind,” 50 Cent told Deadline. However, Kemp would not confirm whether or not “Power” season 6 is, indeed, the show’s penultimate installment.

Various behind-the-scenes photos from Kemp and cast members confirm that they are still filming for “Power” season 6. But many are expecting the show will maintain its usual premiere schedule between June and July.
