Prince Charles is first in line to the throne and this means that when Queen Elizabeth steps down, he will be the next king, the ruler who will head the British Monarch. Next in line is his eldest son, Prince William, who will be king once the Prince of Wales vacated the throne.
Father vs. son for the crown?
However, it rumored that Queen Elizabeth is planning to skip his son and pass on the crown to Prince William instead so he can be the next king. It was said that Prince Charles heard about this plan so he and his son are fighting over who will rule Britain next.
The National Enquirer published an article that says Prince Charles and William are currently involved in a bitter war for the throne. This was allegedly revealed by a palace insider who has a high position in the royal household.
“Charles knows his mother wants to bypass him and make William the next king, but he is fighting tooth and nail,” the palace insider supposedly told the publication. “The Harry and Meghan ‘we quit’ debacle just fired up his determination to make sure he succeeds the queen and no one else! But, William has no intention of stepping aside so the father and son power-grab has thrown the palace into chaos and crisis like the monarchy has never seen!”
It is possible to bypass Prince Charles?
Then again, it was explained that even if Queen Elizabeth really wanted Prince William to be the next king when she retires or dies, it is not possible for the Prince Charles’ eldest son to be crowned as king. Reader’s Digest stated that this is simply impossible because Her Majesty has no power to change her successor.
The magazine revealed that based on the 1701 Act of Settlement, it is against the law to skip who is next in line to the throne. It was said that the rules state that the monarch’s heir should be the direct successor and must be a Protestant.
Moreover, Prince Charles is currently the most qualified in the Royal Family to become king. Clearly, it is not true that Prince William and his father are fighting for the kingship. They must follow the rules and it is the Duke of Cornwall who is the next designated king and no else.
