Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to relocate to Britain with their two children this month, marking a significant return to the UK six years after the couple stepped back from their roles as senior members of the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to move to Britain with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, for an extended stay, according to reports published Wednesday by People magazine and British newspaper The Telegraph.
The reported move would represent a major change for the Sussex family, who have lived primarily in the United States since leaving royal duties in 2020. Harry and Meghan eventually settled in California, where they have raised Archie and Lilibet while pursuing media, charitable and business projects outside the traditional royal structure.
As part of the reported relocation, Archie and Lilibet are expected to begin attending school in Britain in September. The development could mean the children spend considerably more time in the UK, where several members of the British royal family live.
The reports have drawn attention because of Prince Harry's complicated relationship with the royal family in recent years. Since stepping away from official duties, Harry and Meghan have spoken publicly about their experiences within the monarchy and the circumstances surrounding their departure from royal life.
Despite their move away from royal responsibilities, Harry remains the Duke of Sussex, while Meghan holds the title Duchess of Sussex. Their children are known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Neither Harry nor Meghan has publicly confirmed the reported UK relocation. Spokespeople representing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex declined to comment on the reports.
Further details about where the Sussex family would stay in Britain, how long they intend to remain in the country, and which schools Archie and Lilibet may attend have not been officially announced.
The reported return is expected to renew public interest in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship with Britain and the wider royal family.
