Will we see another Marvel team-up on the small screen soon? Actors Jon Bernthal and Gabriel Luna have expressed their excitement with the possibility.
The project in question, of course, is the Thunderbolts project, a team of villains and anti-heroes seeking redemption. According to Screenrant, comics fans are warming up to the idea of a television series based on the Thunderbolts, which also includes Elektra (currently played by Elodie Yung in “Daredevil), Hawkeye, and even Deadpool. Green Goblin, Venom, and Luke Cage also have a part of their histories tied with the Thunderbolts, so the project could be a spark that could add a flurry of new superhero shows.
According to Omega Underground, a potential live-action incarnation involving the Punisher and Ghost Rider generate positive responses from both stars. Bernthal currently plays the gun-wielding anti-hero, while Luna plays Ghost Rider in Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD.” Luna first mentioned the crossover series idea in his show’s panel event. When Bernthal was asked for his opinion, he admitted that he would play Frank Castle in more shows “if the script is right.”
However, the eagerness may not be enough to warrant an order from any producer, including Netflix. Rose Moore for Screenrant said, “there would also be some potential problems, with various key members of the Thunderbolts not currently owned by Marvel/Disney (Norman Osborne, for instance). In addition, a solo “Punisher” series is on the way, and it may be a little much to see this character carry two series simultaneously.”
