The latest set photos for Netflix’s upcoming anti-hero series “The Punisher” had all fans excited for the return of the notorious Frank Castle.
Frank Castle, the crime fighter played by Jon Bernthal, is “unpredictable, impetuous, enraged, and incredibly bloodthirsty,” Konbini reported. First graced the screens in another Netflix-Marvel show, “Daredevil,” it was a mystery to many what happened to Castle after disappearing in the “Daredevil” episode, "A Cold Day in Hell's Kitchen."
Thanks to Fantastik Marvel Twitter, fans were treated to a beaten-up Bernthal wearing the iconic skull armor jacket, Frank Castle’s trademark costume, Screenrant said. It was also noted how Bernthal’s costume is a close resemblance to the comic book anti-hero. Ahead of the upcoming series, Frank Castle has not fully embraced his The Punisher persona yet, but given the fact that he is wearing the iconic costume would only mean Season 1 will be focused on Castle’s journey from a emotionally unstable soldier to the anti-hero he is meant to be.
On the other hand, it also looks like Castle will be having a difficult journey ahead. Early set photos showed Bernthal without his costume. The latest images not only show Castle coming into terms with himself as The Punisher, but also how life-threatening his life has turned into given the very noticeable bullet holes on his skull armor jacket, Gizmodo said.
Comicbook.com said Netflix’s “The Punisher” is expected to debut on the streaming service sometime this year, and will most likely debut probably after “The Defenders,” of which he is a part of. “The Defenders” is set to be released on August 18.
