EVERETT, Wash., Sept. 28, 2016 -- Recovery Café Everett, a safe place for men and women to define and pursue healing and recovery together, invites community members and local businesses to help sow the seeds of recovery and harvest hope at its second annual fundraising event to be held October 29, 2016.
Recovery Café’s mission is to provide the support and stability individuals need to break the cycle of addiction, mental health challenges and homelessness. Opened in March 2015, Recovery Café Everett offers a stabilizing presence in the community for people on the margins, offering opportunities to sustain recovery and rebuild lives. The starting point is an open door, a light meal, and a place to belong. Members begin by committing to a minimum of 24 hours drug and alcohol-free. Healing and transformation continues as members participate in peer accountability and mentoring programs, classes that guide in the development of personal strengths and talents, special events, and 12-step meetings and other recovery groups.
“Without a community of ongoing support, we know that our suffering neighbors and fellow citizens in Everett can remain trapped in the destructive cycle of illness,” said Sharon Gunnerson, President of the Board of Directors of Recovery Café Everett. “We want to break that cycle by helping these men and women make their lives whole again. Through the support of volunteers and donors in our community, we help members commit to recovery, stability and accountability.”
Guests of Recovery Café’s 2016 fundraising event will enjoy an evening of food, entertainment and surprises, including a live auction and raffle prizes. Space is limited and reservations are required by October 10th. For more information and to RSVP, contact [email protected].
