Fans of “Red Dead Redemption 2” should count their blessings if they're also players of Rockstar's “GTA V Online” game as the sandbox game developer has just been revealed to have more goodies in store for loyal fans of their games.
Gamespot covers the details for the second “Red Dead Redemption 2” weapon unlock that owners of “GTA V Online” can acquire. This time, players will be getting a melee weapon – the Native American-flavored stone hatchet.
The Guru Team, a video game data mining team, first got wind of crossover weapons for “GTA V Online” and “Red Dead Redemption 2” and is the same team that found the currently embedded code in “GTA V Online” for the stone hatchet. While the code has already been discovered for the weapon, the specific mission to acquire it has yet to be enabled by Rockstar Games. Considering the release of “Red Dead Redemption 2” in October, it will probably be available to acquire before then.
The first crossover weapon that Rockstar revealed last year was the double action revolver. Acquiring the revolver involves participating in a scavenger hunt-type mission, acquiring the double action revolver in “GTA V Online,” then succeeding in a series of challenges in-game that will allow the player's profile to access the same gun when they log into “Red Dead Redemption 2” using the same account they used for “GTA V Online”
The way to acquire the “Red Dead Redemption 2” stone hatchet will most likely be similar – having the player unlock the weapon by going through a phase of moving around the map, acquiring it in-game, then succeeding at specific challenges, which will provide access to the player when “Red Dead Redemption 2” launches.
This news has yet to be confirmed for owners of “GTA V Online” on the PC as “Red Dead Redemption 2” will only be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when it's released to the public on Oct. 26.
