Fans of the Red Dead Redemption series have been eagerly awaiting Rockstar’s upcoming second installment to the western title. To fuel the flames of hype, the company just released a new trailer with some really interesting visuals and details. While the clip itself offers what gamers can expect from the title’s graphical aspects, the video also contains some important tidbits for the plot and the gameplay.
Titled Red Dead Redemption 2, the game is a prequel to the first installment. In the YouTube video description for the trailer, Rockstar reveals that players will take control of one Arthur Morgan, who is a member of the outlaw group called the Van der Linde gang. Fans who played the first RDR game will be familiar with the gang’s name and its members, but Morgan is a new addition.
Having a new protagonist that no one has heard of while playing the first game is an interesting point in and of itself. As Forbes points out, this already hints at Morgan’s fate since it’s likely that he is going to die. The only question now is how it’s going to happen.
There were also other gameplay elements shown in the trailer that are worth looking into. This includes new weapons, which involves a bow and arrow, and it seems dual-wielding pistols is possible in the game.
There are also alligators in the game, which will likely act as environmental hazards. It seems heists are also going to be in the game too, though, this has not been confirmed.
Finally, it seems that Rockstar went all out in the developers’ attention to detail. So much so, in fact, that the horse in the trailer appears to have testicles. While this isn’t exactly a bad thing – it’s actually great for immersion – there might be those who object to seeing such graphic details in a video game.
