‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ newly released official trailer features the return of Milla Jovovich as Alice as she makes her way back to Raccoon City to battle giant monsters and evil Umbrella Corporation leaders. Meanwhile, co-star Ali Larter said that the series finale will finally answer questions.
According to Maxim, the upcoming film’s official trailer was released last October 7 featuring the return of Jovovich’s Alice to the place where everything began – Raccoon City. In the trailer, a vengeful gun-toting Alice battles gigantic monsters, a far cry from the zombies from the film’s predecessors. Also returning is the evil master computer known as the Red Queen and the equally villainous Umbrella Corporation heads.
Jovovich’s Alice is the series’ main protagonist. She was first introduced in 2002’s ‘Resident Evil’ and is known to be a former high-ranking security operative for the Hive and Umbrella Corporation experiment. Alice is not an actual character from Capcom’s original video game series of the same name.
Joining Jovovich in the cast are Ali Larter as Claire Redfield, Ruby Rose as Abigail, Iain Glen as Dr. Alexander Isaacs, William Levy as Christian, Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker, Eoin Macken as Doc, and Joon Ki-Lee as Lee.
The upcoming science-fiction and horror film picks up right after the events of the preceding film in the series, entitled ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’, released last 2012. According to the Daily Mail, cast and crew took to the New York Comic-Con to talk about the sixth and final film in the videogame adaptation series.
Director Paul W.S. Anderson teased, “It's a return to the very beginning of the franchise, Raccoon City, or what's left of it after we dropped a bomb on it in the second film. It's a return to The Hive for Alice, where it all started, and this is where we find out the truth about [her life prior to her memory being wiped].”
Anderson continued, “This movie will have a level of emotional engagement that will be surprising for a Resident Evil movie.”
Meanwhile, Larter promised that the final installment will answer several fan questions during a separate interview. According to Comicbook.com, she said, “I think it wraps up a lot of the storylines… I think it gives the answers that the real fans are dying to know. Like, what is the story of Alice? How did she come to be? I think that there’s something to bringing a little bit of humanity to this film that made me excited to reprise the role of Claire Redfield.”
She added, “The support and love that I’ve gotten with Claire has been so overwhelming and wonderful over the years… It’s super exciting to come back and do it again.”
‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ is an upcoming action-horror and science-fiction film is written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. The film is produced under Capcom Company, Capcom Entertainment, Constantin Film Produktion, Davis-Films, Don Carmody Production, and Impact Pictures. It is distributed by Screen Gems in the United States.
The film is scheduled to be released on January 27, 2017.
