Robert Pattinson 2019: Kristen Stewart's Ex Officially Named As ‘The Batman’

There was a recent development recently involving Robert Pattinson that has since lit the internet ablaze and divided communities. It’s about him becoming Bruce Wayne in the upcoming DC film, “The Batman.” That’s right, the former vampire heartthrob is about to become the caped crusader, and the reactions have been mixed, intense, and often personal.

After it was revealed that Robert Pattinson was being considered for the part that Ben Affleck had recently departed, fans of the comic book antihero were not exactly thrilled. Now, it is officially confirmed that he will be playing the part, Deadline reports. Warner Bros. has given the okay to proceed with the casting, and there has been a war waged on the web ever since.

Simply put, many fans of Batman are not happy that Robert Pattinson will be dawning the mask and a huge reason appears to involve his role as Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” franchise. They simply do not want anyone from that series to have anything to do with the Dark Knight, let alone be the face of it. Even so, this is exactly what is happening.

Some have also argued that Robert Pattinson does not look like someone who could effectively pull off being Bruce Wayne. Him being a British actor has nothing to do with it, of course, since Christian Bale who played the role in the previous trilogy is also from the UK. Rather, it has to do with his slim build and pale complexion.

Many fans are simply not sold on him as a buff, tough, aggressive, and dangerous character who can easily stand up against even gods in the comic book universe. Then again, the same objections were also directed at Heath Ledger when he was first cast as The Joker in the “Dark Knight Trilogy,” and he performed admirably. Perhaps Robert Pattinson can pull off the same trick.
