CHICAGO, April 18, 2018 -- SA Ignite Inc., a recognized leader in delivering solutions that help healthcare providers achieve top performance scores and financial incentives in the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) program announced that it helped its customers achieve an average overall MIPS score of nearly 95 percent in this first performance year for the program. This score puts this group into the exceptional performance bonus range for the program, ensuring they receive maximum financial incentives. Further, SA Ignite announced a successful first submission season, spearheading 485 submissions for 7,027 clinicians.
The CMS MIPS program scores clinicians on a 100-point scale based on data reported by practices in four performance categories: Quality, Advancing Care Information (ACI), Improvement Activities (IA) and Cost. In nearly 70 percent of the submissions all three categories were submitted using the IgniteMIPS one-click submission capability. The average score for any one category submitted by SA Ignite was above 90 percent.
“The MIPS program brings about a host of pain points when trying to navigate regulatory compliance issues, clinical workflows, benchmarks and data collection methods, making the final reporting process an arduous and complex task,” said Beth Houck, vice president of client experience at SA Ignite. “Our IgniteMIPS solution helps clinicians to achieve these impressive scores by actively managing performance throughout the year and our regulatory experts help them model different scenarios to understand the impact of the decisions they ultimately make.”
CMS is planning to publish MIPS scores by the end of 2018, which means that both providers and patients will be able to view and compare scores against other providers nationwide. In addition to this reputational impact where patients can use MIPS scores to gain a more complete view of a practice, obtaining high scores helps practices maximize the performance-based payment adjustment for Medicare Part B payments starting in 2019.
“We were originally going to rely on registries and our EHR to submit MIPS, but with a healthcare organization’s reimbursement and reputation at stake, clinicians need to continually improve to succeed under MIPS requirements,” said Randy Davis, vice president and CIO, CGH Medical Center. “With SA Ignite, we have a partner in our corner that is committed to helping us succeed – not only on the MIPS path but also as we move toward value-based care.”
IgniteMIPS is a cloud-based software designed for quality managers, clinicians and healthcare leaders to focus on performance and improvement opportunities for MIPS, and not be burdened by the details of data management and regulatory compliance.
In 2017, SA Ignite was recognized by Frost & Sullivan with the North American Enabling Technologies Leadership Award, and the IgniteMIPS solution was specifically highlighted by the firm. The report stated: “With IgniteMIPS, most healthcare organizations realize a return on investment in less than 12 months through revenue maximization and internal program management cost savings.”
