SK Telecom is entering the veterinary market in Australia by introducing its diagnostics assistance technology for animals. The South Korean telecom giant said it will bring its AI-based veterinary X-ray image diagnosis assistance service to animal hospitals in the country.
Partnership Deal for X Caliber
According to Korea Joongang Daily, SK Telecom signed a deal with Australia’s ATX Medical Solutions to incorporate its X Caliber diagnostic tool into its cloud storage facility called the ITX PACS. The integration will allow Australian veterinary clinics to use the diagnostic software for easy diagnosis via X-rays.
SK Telecom said on Tuesday, Feb. 13, that it has inked a commercial contract with the largest medical device distributor in Australia, ATX Medical Solutions, to distribute X Caliber in the region. The companies said this is a strategic collaboration to see the telecom firm’s diagnostic software used in veterinary clinics in AU starting in the first half of this year.
AI-Powered Animal Diagnostic Solution
SK Telecom said it expects around 300 Aussie animal hospitals and clinics to use the ITX PACS, which will have access to its artificial intelligence-powered X Caliber X-ray image diagnostic solution.
The X-rays will provide veterinarians with proper and quick diagnosis of critical diseases in animals. The Korea Economic Daily reported that SK Telecom first launched X Caliber in South Korea in September 2022. X-ray analysis mainly helps veterinarians identify illnesses in pets and animals.
The X Caliber was described as a web-based service that uses artificial intelligence to scan and study animal X-rays. Veterinarians upload the images to SK Telecom’s “X Caliber Vet AI” to get analysis results within 30 seconds.
