As one of the most iconic video game characters in the stealth, action, and shooter genre, Sam Fisher has been in the spy game longer than most characters in the industry. On April 10th, he will be needing some help with regards to a mission in Ghost Recon Wildlands. This free content also comes at the perfect time since the game will have another free weekend play starting April 12th to 15th.
Now, while many fans of the storied stealth character might be disappointed that they won’t be able to play as Sam Fisher, being able to conduct a mission with him is the next best thing. As to what the mission is even about, Nouredine Abboud shared some details in a post on PlayStation Blog.
“This is a stealth mission, so breathe, do recon, and take your time,” Abboud said. “Use all of the recon and stealth tools at your disposal, especially your drone and night vision goggles. Divert enemies with diversion grenades. Call in the rebels when you need assistance, or try to play the mission in co-op with your friends if you need extra help.”
Abboud also provides some insights into the dynamic that Fisher will have with the characters in the game. As a primarily solo operator, seeing the Splinter Cell icon work with others is a bit of a rarity.
“Sam has a good sense of humor, but he’s a bit cynical, with a strong sense of duty,” Abboud says. “We wanted to see that in the story, the cutscenes, and his conversations with the Ghosts.”
Aside from the prospect of being able to go on a mission with Fisher, the new update for the game will also come with a new mode and some new features, Engadget notes. It will be PVP and will be called Sabotage.
