Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have an undeniable great on-screen chemistry. People are very convinced that they are lovers in real life since they starred together in “Outlander” in 2014. With their closeness, the dating rumors involving them have been circulating for a long time, and until now, they are still being linked to each other despite the denials.
Sam and Caitriona maintained that they are just friends and good buddies who work and understand each other well. But then, with their flirtatious online messages for each other, sweet greetings and mentions on special occasions and body language, no one can really blame the people for thinking that they are more than just friends and their dating rumors will probably persist until one of them finally settles down.
Why Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe can’t date
The truth is Sam Heughan cannot date Caitriona Balfe mainly because she is already taken. She has been dating Tony McGill for more than two years now, and the Irish actress also announced their engagement last year at the Golden Globe Awards. She appeared at the red carpet wearing her massive engagement ring, and it was quite eye-catching.
Later, Balfe confirmed that she is getting married and her engagement took place not long ago. “It happened over the break,” she told People. “I am very happy.”
Although she admitted to being engaged, her relationship with McGill remained private. Not much is known about her fiance either since he doesn’t have social media accounts and he doesn’t really appear in the news either. Sam Heughan’s co-star and her fiance have yet to announce a wedding date.
“Outlander” season 5 delay
Meanwhile, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are back to filming for “Outlander” season 5. They are back on the set as the husband and wife Jamie Fraser and Claire Fraser, but it was reported that the series’ return to television would be delayed.
Starz announced a week ago that the fifth installment of Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan’s “Outlander” series would not arrive until 2020. Jeffrey A. Hirsch, Starz’a chief operating officer, made the announcement at the Television Critics Tour in Beverly Hills.
“Everything we do is based on delivery, trying to have something on the air to serve that premium female audience,” Entertainment Weekly quoted Hirsch as telling the reporters. “We have some shows coming before, like ‘Power’ that serve the general market. It’s more about scheduling around that digital experience.”
