Samsung just announced that its next Galaxy Unpacked event is happening next week. It was not specified which devices are going to be unveiled, but many are expecting the launch to be about the Galaxy A series. The official teaser also appears to be hinting at one of the upgrades rumored for Galaxy A52 5G.
Samsung announces next Galaxy Unpacked event
The South Korean tech giant has released the invitation for the “Galaxy Awesome Unpacked” event happening on Wednesday, March 17. The good news is fans can easily tune in on the upcoming announcements as the company confirmed it would be streamed on the official Samsung YouTube channel at 10 a.m. ET.
Other than the when and where of the event, Samsung did not provide any information on what products it is going to announce next week. But the invitation, which comes in the form of a 14-second video, ends with a collage of images, including one where a large amount of water is splashing onto an umbrella.
It can be recalled that one of the previously reported upgrades for at least one Galaxy A series device launching this year is the addition of an Ingress Protection (IP) rating. That means the Galaxy A52 and/or Galaxy A72 are going to be water-resistant smartphones. It is then not far-fetched to find the connection between the previous leaks and the said image included in the Unpacked teaser.
Samsung Galaxy A52, Galaxy A72 likely launching with IP67 certification
Reports about the water-resistant feature first came from Abhishek Yadav, who posted on Twitter in February that the “Galaxy A52 5G” will be released with IP67 certification. This was later reiterated in a report by prolific leaker Evan Blass in a report on Voice.
IP certifications are no longer rare among smartphones, but not for mid-range devices like the Galaxy A series. The IP67 rating means dust exposure and being under one-meter deep water for 30 minutes will not endanger the device. If these leaks check out, this is going to be the first time for a Samsung Galaxy Ax model, but it might also be exclusive to the Galaxy A52 5G model.
Blass also shared the first leaked render of the device, which sported the word “awesome” in its mock-up screen. This further adds weight to the speculations that the Unpacked event next week will, at least, feature the Galaxy A52.
