“In developing our strategic plan going forward it became quite clear that we needed to acquire additional staff in the area of what is called ‘people strategies’,” said Matthew Schimenti, Founder and CEO of Schimenti Construction. “Allen is an engaging and positive professional with over a decade of experience in the construction services industry.”
This new management position at Schimenti reports directly to the CEO and establishes a strategic leadership role for the functional area of Human Resources. In addition to oversight of HR, Avakian will focus his efforts on organization development, employee performance, and learning. He holds a Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from NYU, as well as a Bachelors from Tufts University.
For the last three years, Avakian served as Director of Employee Development at Halmar International. He was primarily responsible for Halmar’s learning and development program, as well as related areas.
Prior to his time with Halmar, Avakian spent 10 years with construction services firm Structure Tone, establishing their global training program that supported over 1400 professionals in multiple business units across the US, UK, and Ireland.
Schimenti Construction, founded in 1994, has built a strong reputation in the retail construction industry and has developed a solid niche in urban construction. The firm specializes in developing retail shopping environments for some of the nation’s leading retailers and restaurants.
