The popular detective drama has yet to be renewed by BBC One Network even after three years of hiatus. There is no mention of its return for a long time but there is still a chance that it will return via “Sherlock” season 5.
The last season concluded in 2017 with only three episodes and there is no follow-up yet up to now. But a piece of good news came as the drama marked its 10th anniversary. To celebrate showrunners Mark Gattis and Steven Moffat and producer Sue Vertue participated in a Q&A where they answered questions coming from the fans.
Latest update about 'Sherlock'
The Q&A session video was then published by Sherlockology and fans were really thrilled. This is understandable since they all have been waiting for “Sherlock” season 5 for a long time now and finally, the showrunners and the producer emerged to give an update.
The Gattis and Moffat were asked if they have already figured out some scenes or Sherlock Holmes’ story that they could adapt for future “Sherlock” drama. The pair did not give a specific answer and said that they will just remain quiet for now.
Although this was how they answered the question, fans are really excited because it appears that they are really cooking something for “Sherlock” season 5. Gattis and Moffat surely have something they are interested in but the viewers will have to wait until the fifth installment to arrive to see what it is.
Is the show coming back any time soon?
Now, for the most popular question - Is “Sherlock” season 5 coming? Was it renewed already? These questions are not part of the latest interview anymore but they actually gave an answer to this late last year.
Lastly, Mark Gattis said that there are no immediate plans for the drama yet because all the cast members are currently very busy. It was suggested that everyone could only hear about the renewal of “Sherlock” season 5 once the actors’ schedules have cleared up and they can set a filming date. Still, the showrunner said that he assumes that they will be back at some point.
