BHC Chicken, one of the leading fried chicken restaurant chains in South Korea, is expanding to Singapore. The very first branch was opened on Wednesday, April 26, on the second floor of the Marina Square shopping mall complex.
The new BHC Chicken store in Singapore can accommodate about 108 customers. Visitors can enjoy the brand’s signature fried chicken menu that can be paired with an iced cold beer.
Korea Joongang Daily reported that the restaurant’s famous dishes, such as the Macho King, Bburinkle Chicken, and Gold King, are already available. People can also get a taste of Korea with every order of sotteok sotteok which is a favorite snack of the Koreans. This item is a skewered sausage with sticky rice cakes.
There will be other favorites as well, including cheese balls, special rosé tteokbokki, and spicy fish cake soup. Although many Singaporeans may not be familiar with these dishes, most of them will recognize them since these food items are always shown in K-dramas and other K-content.
The launch of BHC Chicken in the country was made possible through a master franchise agreement between the brand and local food and beverage retailer, Haomart. The company will operate the branch under the deal, which has granted Haomart the right to open BHC restaurants in the region.
“Opening a Singapore branch is significant in the sense that we created a stepping stone for BHC to grow into a global food company to promote K-food to the world,” Im Geum Ok, BHC Chicken’s chief executive officer, said. “We will strengthen BHC’s competitiveness by launching more of our brands overseas.”
Finally, as per Yonhap News Agency, the BHC Group is planning to bring its restaurants to other countries. It will expand overseas by setting up new stores in Los Angeles, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
