A passenger sued Southwest Airlines for breach of contract for failing to refund him and other passengers left stranded due to an operational meltdown that canceled over 15,000 flights in Decmeber.
The plaintiff, Eric Capdeville, who filed the proposed class action suit in New Orleans federal court, said that while Southwest promised to reimburse passengers for expenses, it offered only a credit to him and his daughter.
A fierce winter storm sweeping across the United States before Christmas forced Southwest to scrap Capdeville's Dec. 27 flight to Portland, Oregon from New Orleans.
Capdeville was unable to book alternative travel.
Southwest said efforts are underway to process refunds from canceled flights and reimburse customers for expenses incurred due to the irregular operations".
