“Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” just went gold, which means that it is now officially finished and is ready for mass production. With that being the case, fans just need to wait for when the game is finally released. In related news, “Square Enix” is initiating programs that will bring human augmentation to stark reality.
“Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” is slated for an Aug. 23 launch date, but fans don’t have to wait until then to shell out some cash and get a copy. Pre-orders for the sequel to the critically-acclaimed “Deus Ex: Human Revolution” have reached 100,000 for the PS4 and Xbox versions combined, the Inquistr reports.
The lucrative reception is likely due to the changes that the developers and publishers made in terms of the pre-order system, which originally involved a complicatedly tiered aspect. Thanks to a rather energetic response from customers, pre-orders are now a lot simpler.
To give players incentive to reserve their copy of the game, pre-orders will give customers the “Day One” edition, which includes extra content such as an extra mission, a digital artbook and a comic book. Fans of the game who are interested in those things might want to book a copy now.
In related news, Square Enix is partnering with an offshoot branch of CNN called “Courageous” in order to make a documentary about real-life human augmentation. In addition, an event called the “Human by Design” event is in the works, which is meant to showcase the possibilities in human augmentation as well as the moral implications of doing so, Venture Beat reports.
The series delves into these subjects with stark clarity with regards to how augmenting humans will likely be received and how it will likely be a divisive concept. With prosthetic limbs becoming more and more technologically complex and effective, the world depicted in the “Deus Ex” universe suddenly becomes a lot more probable.
