ST. LOUIS, Feb. 21, 2018 -- How does the St. Louis Community Foundation follow a record-breaking year involving $79.1 million in grants to nonprofits and $176 million in donor gifts to the Foundation? By adding Elizabeth M. George, an accomplished St. Louis nonprofit professional, as the director of Philanthropic Advising – a newly created position.

In her new role, George will offer strategic advice and counsel to the Foundation’s largest donor and family funds, as well as private foundation clients.
Previously, George served for four years as a managing director at The Rome Group, where she provided strategic and organizational planning and development consulting services to nonprofit organizations, foundations, social service enterprises, advocacy groups, educational institutions, and faith-based organizations.
“An underlying strategy and vision are essential to being an effective and transformational donor, and Elizabeth’s breadth of experience gives her a unique perspective our donors will appreciate,” said Amelia Bond, president and CEO. “Because Elizabeth has worked with countless charitable organizations and the donors who support them, she’ll be an invaluable resource for all of us and bring unparalleled insight to the table.”
Prior to her tenure at The Rome Group, George spent 10 years as vice president of programs at Deaconess Foundation and was director of business development for the St. Louis office of the Rensselaerville Institute, a nonprofit consulting organization.
George earned her MSW from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University and her MBA from the Harvard Business School. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Puget Sound.
Among her many community activities, George serves on the board of directors of SouthSide Early Childhood Center and Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments. She is also a consultant and Madagascar team member for Global Health Administration Partners.
