Starbucks Introduces Sunset Pineapple Frappuccino, a Limited-Time Beverage to Celebrate Summer's End

As summer draws to a close, Starbucks is marking the end of the season with the introduction of the Sunset Pineapple Frappuccino. According to SoraNews24, this limited-time beverage offers a refreshing twist on the Sunshine Pineapple Frappuccino, originally released on August 7. It incorporates a new citrus pulp layer that enhances flavor and color.

While the Sunshine Frappuccino was crafted to evoke the feeling of a day at the beach—with blue sea salt jelly symbolizing the water, pineapple juice representing the sun, and whipped cream mimicking clouds—the Sunset version transports customers to the tranquil hues of a beachside sunset. Adding citrus pulp beneath the whipped cream deepens the orange tones of the drink, transforming its golden shades to mirror the vibrant colors of a sunset.

This citrus pulp introduces the sweet tang of yuzu, a famous Japanese citrus fruit, which contrasts beautifully with the tartness of the pineapple. As the citrus layer is stirred into the drink, it changes the visual appeal and enriches the flavor profile, complementing the salty jelly at the base.

Though this drink is a fitting tribute to the end of summer, it will only be available briefly. Priced at 786 yen (US$5.46) for takeout or 800 yen for dine-in, the Sunset Pineapple Frappuccino will be offered from August 26 to September 3, coinciding with the final availability of the Sunshine Pineapple Frappuccino.

Starbucks Japan Unveils Pineapple Frappuccino, a Tropical Treat to Beat the Summer Heat

Early this month, in Japan, Starbucks consistently introduced new limited-edition Frappuccinos to help customers stay cool. Following the famous banana and peach drinks, the chain's latest release is a tropical-inspired creation featuring pineapple as the star ingredient.

This marks Starbucks' first pineapple-flavored Frappuccino since 2021 and offers a unique combination of flavors, including a special sea salt jelly that complements the midsummer vibe. The drink’s body features sweet-and-tart pineapple juice, providing a burst of fruity refreshment, while the sea salt jelly at the base adds a fun contrast in taste and texture.

The bright yellow pineapple portion of the drink evokes images of golden sands, while the blue jelly represents the sea, creating a visual experience reminiscent of a tropical beach. Designed to evoke the joy and excitement of a midsummer day at the beach, the drink will surely be a hit under the summer sun.

The new pineapple Frappuccino will be available nationwide from August 7 until September 3, priced at 678 yen (US$4.53) for takeout or 690 yen for dine-in customers.
