Starbucks Japan Unveils Chilled Pumpkin Spice Latte for Convenient On-the-Go Enjoyment This Fall
According to SoraNews24, Starbucks is introducing a new and convenient way for customers in Japan to enjoy the beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte this autumn. While the iconic drink has been a fall staple overseas for over 20 years, it wasn’t available in Japan for 15 years until its return in 2021. Since then, it has reappeared each autumn, but this year brings an exciting twist—a chilled cup version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, perfect for on-the-go enjoyment.
Produced in collaboration with Japan's Suntory company, Starbucks' chilled cups have been on the market since 2005, providing a convenient option for enjoying Starbucks beverages outside regular cafes. However, this is the first time the Pumpkin Spice Latte has been offered in this format, featuring the familiar milky pumpkin and spice flavor that fans adore.
Starbucks Japan’s Chilled Pumpkin Spice Latte Features Autumn-Inspired Design and Perfect Food Pairing
The cup’s design evokes autumn, with a white base symbolizing milk and illustrations of leaves and pumpkins in yellow, red, and brown hues. A brown brushstroke, complemented by dot splashes, represents the coffee and spices that enhance the drink’s sweetness and signature taste.
While the Pumpkin Spice Latte can be enjoyed independently, Starbucks encourages customers to pair it with food. U.S.-based Starbucks Product Developer Kenny Valenta recommends the clubhouse sandwich as a perfect match. The combination of chicken, mayonnaise, and whole wheat bread complements the latte's creaminess while enhancing the coffee and spice flavors, creating a harmonious pairing that will satisfy your taste buds.
Whether enjoyed alone or with food, Starbucks' unique 200-millilitre chilled Pumpkin Spice Latte is expected to be a hit among dedicated fans. Priced at 219 yen (US$1.50), it will be available exclusively at convenience stores across Japan for a limited time starting September 10.
