Starbucks Japan is welcoming the spring season with two new beverages. Starting March 16, the coffee chain company will offer the Fluffy Mousse Coffee GYU-NEW and the Fruit GYU-NEW Frappuccino.
Starbucks Japan is adding the new drinks to its menu list and will be available at Starbucks outlets across Japan. Then again, just like any other seasonal drinks, the new frappes will only be sold until April 12 or until supplies last.
As per SoraNews24, the Fluffy Mousse Coffee GYU-NEW and the Fruit GYU-NEW Frappuccino offer the kind of taste that will make people feel nostalgic. It was said that having them will surely take customers strolling down the memory lane due to the ingredients’ combination and blending.
The new Starbucks beverages put more emphasis on the fruit milk, and coffee milk ingredients as the Japanese have loved these, especially the ones in the iconic milk bottles. The coffee brand created Starbucks-style drinks based on these popular milk; thus, the creations are being promoted with the theme: “New and a little nostalgic!”
Moreover, it was explained that Starbucks formed the GYU-NEW name for its newest beverages based on a Japanese pun, “gyunyu,” which is the local term for “milk.” The “nyu” has been replaced with “new” to remind people that all the old things can be new again. Since they created the Fluffy Mousse Coffee GYU-NEW and the Fruit GYU-NEW Frappuccino based on Japan’s iconic milk, the old ingredient was just turned into a new product, and this was exactly what the pun means.
In any case, the Fruit GYU-NEW Frappuccino features Japan’s retro fruit milk that is traditionally being sold in small glass milk bottles. These are still available in the country but can only be found in smaller milk stands and stores now.
The milk is blended with the juice of fruits including banana, mango, orange, white peach, satsuma mandarin, apple, and pineapple. This is a cold beverage that is topped with red cherry. It can be purchased for ¥638 for tall size take-out order and ¥650 for the same size for in-store purchase.
The Fluffy Mousse Coffee GYU-NEW is a coffee created with layers of three different textures. Its base is made with sweetened milk coffee made with milk and cold brew coffee then blended with vanilla syrup. For the second layer, fresh cream is added along with white mocha syrup then the beverage is topped with fluffy coffee mousse sprinkled with cocoa powder.
Entabe mentioned that the take out prices for this Starbucks Japan frappe are ¥501 for small, ¥540 for tall and ¥579 for grande, and ¥618 for venti. For in-store prices, the rates are ¥510, ¥550, ¥590, and ¥630, respectively.
